Risk Manager - Capital Assurance  

Our client are seeking a Risk Manager within capital Assurance to provide the following recent skills and knowledge within the financial capital market.

Purpose of the job

To develop the Risk Management function for the Solvency II Insurance the role holder can divide their time between London, Kent and if necessary with an option of a couple of days working from home. Ofcourse this role will e home based for the foreseeable future.  

You will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the clients Risk Management framework. Working alongside our Actuarial and Finance teams this role will design and embed a consistent risk management approach to the oversight of capital management and risk appetite and provide support to the business planning process.

Must have sufficient experience in the development of a risk management system within a UK regulated Insurance and or financial markets Company and be able to communicate risk issues and considerations effectively to the business, its shareholders, capital providers and stakeholders, including the PRA and FCA.

•            Proven record in Capital, Financial and Underwriting risk management within the insurance market.

•            Strong Risk Management experience with a desire to analyse business issues and risks with a view to improving business performance.

•            Knowledge of Solvency II and its implications for Insurance Companies and Risk Management.

•            Experience in the design and development of a stress and scenario framework including reverse stress tests.

•            Ability to analyse technical information and understand complex matters quickly.

•            Able to work independently and draw the ‘bigger picture’ themes and strategic risks from underlying sources.

•            Strong communication skills, both written and oral, able to articulate technical/complex concepts in a straightforward and unambiguous manner and produce and present reporting to Board standard:

•            Attention to detail and timeliness in delivery;

•            Proficient computer skills including experience in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint;


•            Have worked closely with the Actuarial function in respect of risk /capital alignment.

•            Strong coaching and teaching techniques (particularly on technical issues).

•            Experience in working with personal lines insurance products.

•            Strong understanding of financial processes.

•            Either Associate (or above) of Chartered Insurance Institute or qualified member of the Institute of Risk Management (or studying for).
