Opportunity for a talented energy and environment manager to join a large, secure, and well-respected manufacturer, in a newly created management position.

In this role, you will become the UK organisation's energy and environmental expert with a specific focus on the future sustainability of the business. Principal goals will be to reduce energy costs, lower the carbon footprint and to introduce ISO 50001. The current ISO 14001 system will also need to be managed and maintained.

This position forms a crucial part of the company's site management team reporting to the plant manager. The successful candidate will be joining a highly focused, committed team dedicated to continuous improvement.

As the energy and environment manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the UK expert for energy and environment
  • Delivering annual energy cost savings through operational improvements and relevant capital expenditure
  • Further reduction of the carbon footprint
  • Liaising with all utility providers
  • Further nurturing the company's strong relationships with external bodies such as Natural Resources Wales
  • Monitoring updates on legislation for energy efficiency and climate change
  • Overseeing annual audits and compliance with permit conditions
  • Introducing ISO 50001 within a 2-year timeframe
  • Liaising cross-functionally within the UK and wider international organisation

  • A degree in a technical, scientific or engineering discipline


  • Managing energy systems in an industrial environment
  • A proven track record of delivering energy savings and carbon footprint reductions
  • Knowledge of carbon trading and carbon credits (would be preferred)
  • Environmental management or the willingness to develop knowledge in time
